Meet Tami
Raised with a deep love for the outdoors, Tami and her family spent countless hours camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, and playing in the streams and creeks of the Big Horn Basin area. Her father’s experience working for the forest service after high school gave him intimate knowledge of these mountains, which enriched their family adventures and instilled in Tami a profound appreciation for Wyoming’s natural beauty. These experiences not only deepened her connection to the land but also cultivated values of stewardship and gratitude for the pristine landscapes and environmental resources they were fortunate to explore.
Tami’s strong work ethic began at an early age when she started a paper route in Worland at just 9 years old, alongside her sister Toni. They delivered papers to residents, including those at what’s now known as the Worland Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. She remembers these early morning stops as a welcome break from the cold during Wyoming winters, which sometimes reached freezing temperatures of 40-below. This experience taught her invaluable lessons in grit, hard work, and the satisfaction of accomplishment.
Tami’s family relocated from Worland to Casper during her eighth-grade year, following a career opportunity her father pursued. She then completed her education by graduating from Kelly Walsh High School. After high school, Tami pursued higher education, earning an Associate’s Degree in Photography. Between her associates and bachelor’s degrees, she took a break from school and served a mission for her church in Argentina for a year and a half. Upon returning, she resumed her studies and earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science with a focus on marriage and family therapy from BYU.
During her higher education, Tami worked as a photographer capturing school pictures, prom moments, senior portraits, and engagement photos. It was during this time at BYU that she met and married her first husband. After graduating from BYU, Tami’s first job was working for Utah Valley University as an English Grammar teacher at Provo High School. Tami was chosen over other applicants for this position due to her ability to speak fluent Spanish and her volunteer work during college at the Utah State Correctional Facility, teaching life skills classes.
A year after earning her bachelor’s degree, Tami welcomed her first child, Christian. Prioritizing her family’s needs after his birth, she put her full-time career aspirations on hold and instead worked part-time, taking on freelance photography projects whenever time allowed.
Tami’s educational journey and life experiences took her to various states, where she encountered a pivotal moment in 2007. It was during this time, while residing in New Hampshire with her family, that she developed a strong interest in politics. Inspired by Ron Paul’s presidential campaign, Tami began attending meet-and-greets and rallies nearby. This period provided her with the opportunity to meet notable figures such as Ron Paul, Rand Paul, and Mitt Romney, creating an exciting and engaging experience as multiple candidates were in close proximity.
Following a divorce in 2009, Tami returned to her roots in Wyoming with her four children. It was here that she met and married her husband, Tim, of 14 years, and together they have eight children, with four already having graduated and one graduating this year.
She feels blessed to have returned to Worland and believes it has provided her children with unique opportunities for independence, fostering a “Leave it to Beaver” community spirit that she is dedicated to preserving.
In 2015, Tami earned certification as an Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code practitioner. Since then, she has devoted part of her time to working from home, aiding clients in enhancing their emotional, physical, and mental well-being by releasing trapped emotions. Additionally, Tami works part-time as an orthodontist assistant.
Tami enjoys spending quality time with her family outdoors, engaging in activities such as camping, hunting, hiking, 4-wheeling and snow skiing. Additionally, she actively supports her children’s pursuits in dance and soccer. Ballroom dancing is also a hobby she finds joy in. Her involvement in the local GOP party provides her with opportunities to connect with others and make contributions to the community.
In 2020, Tami and her husband launched a successful camper repair business, witnessing its growth firsthand over the past few years. With over 13 years of involvement in local politics and service within the Republican Party as a precinct committee member, State Committeewoman and Chairman, she is deeply concerned about the direction of our county, state, and nation, and is a staunch supporter of the Republican Party Platform and its principles.
Tami is running to represent House District 27 to ensure your voice and values are heard in the State Legislature, advocating for the preservation of our conservative ideals and the prosperity of our great state, and to RETURN WYOMING TO ITS TRADITIONAL VALUES.
